Day 97: Kindness Review
“When we practice loving kindness and compassion we are the first ones to profit.” – Rumi
I have been writing about inner kindness and self kindness as the starting point of true kindness because I wholeheartedly believe true kindness must begin with the self. Once we have an abundance of loving kindness, it will overflow to the people in our lives, then it will naturally flow to all people, and finally flow out and affect everything we do, including how we care for the planet. It is still my hope and goal to keep practicing self love, self acceptance, and self kindness so that I may spread kindness to the world and let it overflow and pour out from me. I hope you will join me.
Here is a review of my mission:
The 4 Acts of Kindness:
- Kindness to Self
- Kindness to Others
- Kindness to Strangers
- Kindness to Our Planet
It is my hope that you will join me in practicing the 4 Acts of Kindness everyday. As an example of how to practice the 4 Acts of Kindness, let’s look at the subject of complimenting:
- Look in the mirror and compliment yourself, then take it a step further and try to be kind and tender with your self-talk and the way you treat yourself for the day.
- Individually compliment each of your loved ones, family members and friends. Try for one entire day to compliment your children, spouse and loved ones rather than criticize or control.
- Compliment a stranger on their smile or outfit or their kind gesture to hold a door open.
- Compliment our earth on all the wonderful and beautiful things, plants and creatures she provides.
I think you get the idea. And then the next day, try gratitude. And then the following day, check back here for additional ideas on how to find, create and live the 4 Acts of Kindness.
