Kind Affirmations

Day 93: Kind Affirmations

“As you think, so shall you become.” – Bruce Lee

“The ancestor of every action is a thought.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

“If I can imagine it, I can achieve it; if i can dream it, I can become it.” – William Ward

I never really understood the need for doing affirmations, until now. As I am figuring out how to have kindness in my life, and more importantly inside of me, I am beginning to understand the power of positive affirmations. I know people that use positive affirmations, either by writing them down, saying them everyday and throughout the day and other rituals, such as repeating an affirmation like a mantra. All of these are powerful ways to start changing the way our minds work.

Many of us struggle with the inner critic that says all sorts of negative things. What if it was as easy as retraining the mind to say and eventually believe only positive messages. Such as we are perfect as we are in this moment. That we can have and do anything we desire if we put our mind to it. That is the magic right there. Putting our mind to it. Simply replacing all of the negative self talk with a list of positive affirmations that with practice, take over and replace what was there.

Kindness to Self:

We can begin by writing down all of the negative things we say inside of our minds and then we can change the negative messages into positive affirmations. For example, if we look in the mirror and usually say something like, I am fat, ugly and imperfect, instead we can say, I am slender, beautiful and perfect. If we start saying them over and over eventually we will replace the negative ones and we will have a whole new set of positive beliefs.

Kindness to Others:

As I learn to observe the inner critic, I have realized that it also comes out at those I love the most. Just as we use positive affirmations for ourselves, we can do those same or similar affirmations towards others. We can say, I love myself and I love all others, I approve of  myself and I approve of all others, soon this will be true.

Kindness to Strangers:

As with anything, I believe that if we start with ourselves and then with the people in our lives, our kindness, love, approval, and positive life affirmations will eventually trickle down to strangers and all people.

Kindness to Our Planet:

Same goes for our planet. When we are happy, loving, and kind from within, all beings and all creatures will feel and receive that. It must come from within before it can truly be felt out. At least that has been my experience.
